Christmas Shuffle
An event for Tabula Rasa Showcase
Part of the funding for my Master Thesis, Tabula Rasa from the Bolzano Province, included a public event to show the projects we were working on. Since my was a tech project involving AI and other NERD explanations (not the sexiest thing for a public event) I decided to organize something different, time and site specific. Christams was coming and we decided to organize an exchange gift event.
The Event
Everyone has something nice at home that sits there, on a library shelves or in a drawer. Maybe it's a gift, a nice one, but still, even if we try super hard, we can't birng ourselves to like it. So why not exchange a nice gift for another nice gift, maybe not even for ourselves but for the Christams party that is coming. To contrast consumerism we decided to organize this second hand gift exchange that went great.
Exchange System
Since the event was quite long, we designed a simple system to ensure that people who brought an item in the beginning or that simply have not found something yet, can come later. Therefore instead of taking a gift immediately they collect a silver token. One item corresponded to one silver token. With that, they can come and collect a gift later.
Packing Station
To make a perfect gift you need nice colored paper, ribbons and bit of tape and strings. That's why, together with our table we setted up a packing station with tools and materials to pack the gifts.
